Microsoft opens unlimited access to the documents Office

Microsoft announced the launch of the program prior acquaintance with a set of Web applications, Office (Office Web Applications, OWA) for technical experts (Technical Preview).

Currently available for testing application Word Web App, Excel Web App and PowerPoint Web App, representing the online version of the familiar programs of Microsoft Office. OneNote Web App, also included with OWA, will be presented at the next stage of development. In the next few months, each of the four applications will be further developed and complemented with new functions, including those based on feedback received during testing.

Technicians participating in the program familiarization will appreciate features such web applications, as browsing files, Word; viewing, creating and editing tables in Excel, and presentations in Power Point; collaborate on documents.

C using a Web-Office applications, users will be able to work with documents on your PC, Mac or mobile phone through any of the popular browsers: officially supported access via Internet Explorer (7 and 8 versions), Firefox 3.5 for Windows, Mac and Linux, Safari 4 for Mac . Additional information on the support of browsers for mobile phones will appear in the later stages of developing a set of applications.

The final version of OWA, integrated with Office 2010, will provide opportunities:

  • Unlimited access to documents. View and edit documents without losing formatting will be at home and in the office from virtually any computer or phone that is connected to the Internet.
  • Effective joint work with documents. Office Web applications will easily and effortlessly share documents created and modified on different computers and different browsers. With Excel and OneNote Web Apps a few people at the same time be able to modify the same document directly from your browser.
  • Simultaneous use of online and client applications Office. Seamless integration with Office (beginning with version 2003) provide an opportunity to quickly and easily store documents on the Internet. A saving files from Office 2010 in Windows Live, users can get access, edit and share them with family, friends and colleagues from anywhere in the world.

After the final version of Office Web Applications free access to the new service through Windows Live ID will receive more than 500 million people worldwide. Corporate customers can take advantage of Web-based applications under the volume licensing programs, as well as gain access to this service through the Web site Microsoft Online Services.
