Google enters the market of electronic books

Friday, October 16, 2009

Google has announced its intention to create your own online store selling electronic books. The service, called Google Editions, will be launched next year and will allow its users to purchase electronic copies of books which they will then be able to read on a variety of devices - from computers to special "newsreaders" (e-book reader).

The cost of books in Google Editions will be determined by their publishers. By the middle of next year, Google plans to deploy in its online store from 400 to 600 thousand electronic books, with access to all of this wealth will be implemented through a web browser. This means that the book will be able to buy your favorite World Wide Web, any user, regardless of where it is.

Books in Google Editions will be available on virtually any device equipped with a browser, including smart phones, communicators, netbooks, notebooks and, of course, PCs. At the same time profit from the sale of each e-book will be divided as follows - 55 percent depart Google and its partners, and the remainder will receive proper publisher.

Note that the market for electronic books in recent years shows steady growth. According to the Association of American Publishers (Association of American Publishers), in the last year in the U.S. were sold e-books at $ 113 million, a 68 percent jump over 2007.
