Sunday, October 11, 2009

Motorola has quietly left the organization LiMo Foundation, which she founded in 2007, together with such famous companies as NTT DoCoMo, Panasonic Mobile Communications, Samsung Electronics and Vodafone. This organization, recall, is engaged in the development and promotion of LiMo software platform based on Linux for mobile phones.

After leaving the LiMo Foundation, Motorola still remains an associate member of the alliance. However, it is obvious that the American manufacturer intends to focus on the issue of mobile devices that use the operating system Android, supported by Internet giant Google. Interestingly, the Android platform is based on the same Linux.

Recently, Motorola has already introduced its first Android smart phone called the Motorola CLIQ (DEXT), running on Qualcomm processor and has 256 MB of RAM, and 3.1-inch touch screen. It is expected that a second phone on that Motorola will provide the software platform in the near future.
