AMD introduced a new "queen of cards" Radeon HD 5970 (Hemlock) with two GPU

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

As we previously expected, AMD has officially introduced its new flagship graphics card ATI Radeon HD 5970 (Hemlock), which has become today's fastest graphics accelerator in the world. The new adapter is equipped with two 40 nm video chip Cypress, and its computational power reaches 4.64 teraflops - previously unthinkable figure for consumer-level decisions.

Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5970 is equipped with 3200 stream processors and 160 texture units, as well as 2 GB of fast memory GDDR5, distributed between the GPU and possessing interface 2 x 256 bits. During cooling of this powerful accelerator meets the dual-slot cooler, in addition, there is support for modern technologies such as DirectX 11, ATI Eyefinity regime and CrossFireX. And thanks to the software ATI Overdrive can further improve the performance of this "two-headed monster", dispersing it to the GPU and memory frequencies exceeding the reference to 30 and 50 percent respectively.

The functionality of ATI Radeon HD 5970 supplement Interfaces Dual-DVI and Mini DisplayPort. It supports up to three monitors with a total maximum resolution up to 7680 x 1600 pixels. Note that this graphics card, despite all its power, is quite energy-efficient solution, but its a TDP ranging from a minimum of 42 watts to 294 watts at peak load.

Major companies-partners AMD, brands including ASUS, Club 3D, Gigabyte, MSI, Sapphire, PowerColor, XFX, etc., certainly have produced their versions of the new "queen of cards" that can be submitted in the near future. It remains to add that the recommended price for the ATI Radeon HD 5970 is 599 dollars.
