Apple invites developers to improve the iPhone Maps application

Monday, November 30, 2009

Apple has opened the job software developer in the team iPhone and iPod Touch Maps. His task will be raising the quality of the built-in iPhone mapping application Maps to a new level. In the description of the job (by the way, quite unusual for a "fruit" of the company) said that Apple wants to raise the Maps application to a new level of quality, to rethink how people use this program and what ways are sought. Moreover, all changes in Maps will occur smoothly and with a high degree of interaction with consumers.

It is useful to recall that although the cartographic data from Google to remain an integral part of the Maps application for the iPhone, the companies Apple and Google are increasingly becoming competitors in the mobile market. In this latter has recently added a number of interesting features in the mapping application for their platform Android.

Among these new features is available, for example, a simplified search for the English language, voice search, etc. And although Apple and Google, rumored to be working on integrating those same opportunities in the application for the iPhone, it is already clear that the electronics giant of Cupertino creates its own mapping service. Confirmation of this fact is the recent acquisition of Apple company Placebase, specializing in mapping technologies, as well as the inclusion of its head in the Apple "Geo Team".

Apple Maps application is good but it should be better as there is competition in the market for the GPS devices with cellphones. So iphone wants to stay ahead of all.
