Cray XT5 (Jaguar) has become the world's fastest supercomputer

Published thirty-fourth edition of the TOP500 list of supercomputers. From this it becomes clear that after several unsuccessful attempts supercomputer Cray XT5 (Jaguar) yet become the most productive in the world of the computer system, ahead of his "colleague" IBM Roadrunner at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The new leader is established on the basis of AMD Opteron, belongs to the Ministry of Energy and is located in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and its performance is 1.75 petaflops.



IBM Roadrunner with the level of 1.04 petaflops performance in fresh rating list was in second place. The top three supercomputers in the system closes the Kraken, belonging to the National Institute for Computational Sciences USA. In fourth place was the most powerful supercomputer outside the United States - IBM BlueGene / P, located in the German research center Forschungszentrum Juelich (FZJ) and has a capacity of 825.5 teraflops. Finally, at the fifth position in the TOP500 list of November a Chinese supercomputer Tianhe-1, which we mentioned in the news. It is set in the national supercomputer center in Tianjin, and its performance is equal to 563.1 teraflops.
