VESA certified standard Mini DisplayPort

Organization of Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) formally adopted the final version of the standard Mini DisplayPort. A short name for this connector - mDP, it was developed by Apple. This connector is more compact than the DisplayPort standard and can be used on laptops and video cards, especially with a large number of ports, where the importance of space, such as the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity6 Edition. In addition, this connector allows a display to the outputs of DVI, HDMI and VGA adapter.



There are currently adopted version of the interface DisplayPort 1.1a. But in the near future plans to release a new version of the DisplayPort specification numbered 1.2, which will include the standard mDP. In this case, the size of the connector will remain unchanged, but will support 3D images, two-fold rise in bandwidth and speeds up the redraw and color depth.
