Panasonic Notebook Batteries will work longer

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Panasonic has begun mass production of lithium-ion batteries for laptops, which have a higher charge capacity than the currently produced models. Batteries are made in the so-called form-factor of 18650, ie standard size of 65 mm in length and 18 mm in diameter. Users of these models have been known as an assembled unit with a boxy shape. If speaking directly about the characteristics, it is now 18650 batteries from Panasonic will have a capacity of 3100 mAh, while the majority produced is the rate at 2900 mAh, ie increase capacity of about 7% without increasing the size.

According to representatives of Panasonic, this increase was achieved through the use as anode material for the manufacture of nickel. In addition, the company's engineers have made some effort, to increase the safety of batteries. Between the cathode and the anode there is now a layer of metallic oxide, which is expected to prevent overheating of the battery, even in the case of short circuit. Thus, Panasonic claims that their batteries will no longer have such unpleasant possibilities as an explosion.

I really admire this, I mean it reallllly looks interesting! I'm actually glad to see all this stuff, to see that this world offers creativity and ideas other than what my lonesome small town provides. This world is quite the big place and to encounter a story such as this one just puts me out of my ordinary. I gotta hand it to whoever wrote this, you've really kept me updated! Now, let's just hope that I can come across another blog just as interesting :)
