Thecus i8500 - storage system with support for iSCSI and enhanced data protection

Monday, December 14, 2009

Thecus Technology Company announced the launch of a new model file storage i8500. The device has a high degree of reliability and is designed to create a resilient storage infrastructure of large enterprises. The function of online migration allows the drive to install hard drives in another device, i8500, while data will be lost. Features an online expansion, migration, and automatic recovery volumes allow, at any time to increase the capacity of storage systems, without interrupting her work. In addition, i8500 supports server clusters, providing simultaneous access to data up to 32 hosts. All this allows to use this system in fault-tolerant storage infrastructures of large enterprises.

Performance storage systems must grow in parallel with the business. Through the use of the processor Intel Xscale IOP, i8500 not only provides nearly instantaneous response of the system, but also allows a data transfer rate up to 150 MB / sec. when working through 1 interface, and 190 MB / sec. after 2 interface.

In the i8500 provides opportunities for reliable data storage. Selecting multiple modes of RAID, including RAID 0, 1, 0 +1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 30, 50, 60 and JBOD, provides flexibility and data protection. Eight slots for SATA-II hard drives can hold up to 16 terabytes of storage capacity, and two Gigabit Ethernet interface allows you quick access to data. To provide additional data integrity device i8500 is equipped with an optional battery backup module (BBM) - Lithium-ion battery that preserves the unwritten data in memory up to 72 hours. After the restoration of power supply data will be automatically saved to disk to save. In addition, i8500 supports up to 32 snapshots of data, allowing administrators to easily "roll back" any changes to the system.

The flexibility of the device is complemented by support for OS Windows, MAC OS and Linux, and also features an online expansion and migration, automatic recovery and support up to 256 logical volumes. Quick response system is provided through the use of Intel Xscale IOP processor and 1 GB of DDR memory that allows a data transfer rate up to 150 Mbps when working through 1 interface and up to 190 MB / sec - with 2 interfaces.
