Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Very often in our news there are remarks, a report on the next reach of enthusiasts around the mass of a CPU. Today's story - about an experiment conducted by well-known overclocker Chew * over dual-core processor Athlon II X2 255, only recently introduced by AMD. This model belongs to the family Regor and is a monolithic chip with two physical cores on the chip, made by the 45 nm process technology. In addition, Athlon II X2 255 has a third level cache. All this has reduced its TDP of 65 watts.

The system, built by Chew *, this processor was overclocked to the frequency of 4800.1 MHz with the core values in the 3.1 GHz. This figure BClk was 320.01 MHz, the multiplier was equal to 15.0, and the value VCore could reach 1,696 volts. To cool the CPU used cascade cooler.

Test configuration created by Chew *, included its own chip Athlon II X2 255, motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H, Memory DDR3 1600 production OCZ, Power Supply PC Power & Cooling 750 watt power and graphics card ATI Radeon HD 4890. In addition, in the same configuration Chew * managed to overclock the processor Athlon II X2 255 to the frequency of 4050 MHz, using the reference CPU cooler that came with a high quality chip AMD.
