Friday, January 15, 2010

Company LG Display has developed the world's largest flexible display technology based "electronic paper", whose size almost equal to normal page tabloid newspaper. This display has a size of 25 x 40 centimeters, which means that the diagonal of 19 inches. These dimensions make it a good basis for the "electronic newspapers" of the future.

This newspaper would be able to display the latest news, downloads, for example, via computer or wireless network connection, and even show videos. The thickness of the display is only 0.3 mm and weighs 130 grams and supply flexibility allows you to bend it in different directions, of course, within reasonable limits.

The developers of LG Display replaced when creating your screen traditional glass substrate at a thin layer of metal foil. This allows this display combines the flexibility and reliability. In addition, the screen has a high contrast ratio, and the technology used in its "electronic paper" makes it extremely energy efficient solution.

Indeed, the displays on the basis of "electronic paper" available energy is expended only when you update the image, which allows, for example, electronic books for a long time to work offline. In addition, for displaying images on the screen, then use external lighting, which reduces the load on the user's eyes.

On the timing of the start of mass production of 19-inch flexible display from LG Display on the basis of "electronic paper" is not reported. But the issue of its more compact 11.5-inch counterparts is scheduled to begin in the first half of this year.
