Friday, February 12, 2010

South Korean company Samsung Electronics announced the development of two new models of image sensors - S5K4E2 and S5K5CA, intended for installation in mobile phones. These models, as claimed by the manufacturer, specially designed for installation in vehicles of Class Hi-End, which will have a very small thickness and compact size.

Model S5K4E2 is a 5 megapixel CMOS (CMOS) sensor size 1/4-dyuyma with extended depth of focus and ability to focus at a distance of 15 cm This sensor allows video footage in full resolution at 15 frames per second.

Model S5K5CA - a 3 megapixel image sensor combined size 1/5-dyuyma, which is a single-chip solution, which includes himself CMOS (CMOS) sensor and image processor. As the company claims, its 3 MP novelty at least 25% lower than the existing analogs, is 10% higher signal to noise ratio, allows you to shoot HD video (720p) and is an ideal solution with a fixed focus for thin mobile phones.

It is now available to test samples submitted by the sensors, and their mass production scheduled for the end of the first quarter. Samsung plans to use these sensors in the new models of mobile phones in 2010.
