NEC develops high-speed interface with bandwidth up to 16 Gbit / s

Thursday, February 18, 2010

It would seem that the standard USB 3.0 is just beginning to be implemented successfully in computer hardware and consumer electronics, Japanese scientists have already opened up new horizons for speed. NEC has developed a new interface for high-speed serial interaction, the capacity of which reaches the turn in 16 Gbps.

Thus, the new technology, created by NEC, about three times faster than the speed of data transmission existing interface SuperSpeed USB, and bus PCI-Express 2.0. Recall theoretically attainable speed of information exchange in the interface of USB 3.0 is "only" 4.8 Gbps. This extra-high capacity, according to Japanese researchers, will use the technology they created in a variety of devices, for example, in high definition TV, or for the transfer of three-dimensional video.

Its high-speed next-generation, developed by experts NEC, uses the same binary information transmission scheme that USB and PCI-Express. However, it applied the technology pre-emptive correction of the vibrational signals, while minimizing interference between bits of data and, ultimately, significantly improve the channel capacity.

Japanese company promises to continue to develop its new interface. At the same time at the hands of the NEC already has a USB chip, which allows user to transfer data at speeds of 16 Gbit / sec. So it is possible that a year or two SuperSpeed USB interface can befall the fate of its predecessor USB 2.0.
