Draft InVisage promises to quadruple clarity phone images

Despite the increasing number of megapixels in modern phones, the quality of images obtained in the vast majority of models do not even below the level of budgetary Consumer Digicam. The recently launched project InVisage promises to change this situation and make a revolution in the market of inexpensive digital cameras. Promising technology for the production of matrix QuantumFilm must provide a fourfold increase in sharpness compared to modern CMOS-matrix used in phones. It also projected two-fold increase in dynamic range. For the consumer this means the possibility of obtaining 12-megapixel camera, where is located a 3-megapixel sensor.



The technology is new material developed by InVisage based on quantum dots. This material is installed on place of usual CMOS-sensor, which allows greatly improve the level of the captured light system. If CMOS technology allows to process up to 25% of incident light, the matrix QuantumFilm able to catch up to 90-95%. The more the light catches the matrix, the higher the quality of the picture. This new technology will be more and cheaper for the consumer, because the sensor QuantumFilm will cost less than the CMOS-sensor high-resolution.

The end of the development is scheduled for the last quarter of this year, and products with technology QuantumFilm may appear as early as 2011.
