CPU Intel Atom D425 and D525 for storage

Intel has formally announced two new processors from the line of Atom - Intel Atom D425 and D525. Both chips have a clock speed of 1.8 GHz, only the first single-core, and the second - Dual-Core. These processors are targeted for use in network storage (NAS) for home or small business, they support the operating systems Windows Home Server and Linux, as well as memory DDR3.

The chips are equipped with controller Intel 82801IR, which allows you to create hardware platforms for processor I / O high-intensity, parallel computing, and so on.

This platform supports up to 6 tires PCI Express, up to 12 USB ports and 2 eSATA. The new Intel Atom processors have already adopted such equipment manufacturers as Acer, Cisco, LaCie, LG Electronics, NETGEAR, QNAP, Super Micro, Synology and Thecus, notes by Intel. Their decisions are based on the new chips will come to market later this year.
