Intel threatens antitrust investigation in U.S.

U.S. Federal Trade Commission in the near future is going to begin an investigation in respect of Intel. World's largest manufacturer of processors are suspected of violating antitrust and unfair competition. Recall that in May this year the European Commission has fined the American corporation to 1.06 billion euros, found her guilty of antitrust violations in the market of computer processors. According to the European Commission, Intel intention to sell its processors to producers at low prices in order to eliminate competition with other companies, for example, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).



In the beginning of the official proceedings of the Intel, according to Reuters news agency, voted in three of the four antitrust regulators, members of the Federal Trade Commission. And an informal inquiry begun in 2008 immediately after the verdict of the South Korean commission for monitoring compliance with the rules of fair trade. Then Intel was fined 25 million dollars for the use of unfair methods of competition against AMD. Intel Corporation is now one of the largest chip maker in the world, and its market share in microprocessors for PCs more than 80 percent.
