NVIDIA Optimus will integrate the GPU and the IGP to increase productivity

Monday, February 8, 2010

The first information about the new development of NVIDIA's called Optimus appeared in the last month, but today the media network to publish additional information about this technology. According to recent data, NVIDIA Optimus is a graphics technology for mobile platforms and is an improved version of the already familiar developments Hybrid SLI and Hybrid Graphics.

NVIDIA Optimus technology allows the system to automatically switch between discrete and integrated graphics, which makes it possible to simultaneously take advantage of high-performance discrete graphics cards, and in the absence of worthy goals for them to migrate to an integrated GPU. This approach will save battery power, which is critical for mobile computers.

It is reported that the technology NVIDIA Optimus will be presented on February 9, that is, the current week. Apparently, NVIDIA tries thus prevent the loss of their share of the mobile graphics market. Recall now delivers NVIDIA GeForce 9400M IGP solution for a series of Core 2 processors, but since then, as Intel has introduced a new mobile platform, the position of graphic giant in this area is seriously weakened.
