AMD has plans to supplement the family of its quad-core processors Propus two new models. New items were named Athlon II X4 640 and Athlon II X4 645 and must be born in the second and third quarter of this year. Interestingly, this will be the first CPU in the line Propus, whose clock speed to reach the turn at 3 GHz.

New chips Athlon II X4 640 and Athlon II X4 645 received basic frequency of 3 GHz and 3.1 GHz, respectively. At the same time, the CPU clock speed Athlon II X4 635, which is the fastest model in the family of AMD Propus, is present on the market, is 2.9 GHz. This Athlon II X4 640 and Athlon II X4 645, as well as other representatives of this line, do not have the cache of the third level.

In addition, the specification of processors Athlon II X4 640 and Athlon II X4 645 includes 2 MB shared cache and support for DDR3 1333, and their a TDP of 95 watts. Both chips are made on standards tested 45-nm process technology and are suitable for installation in the socket AM3. Model Athlon II X4 640 should appear at the beginning of the second quarter, while the debut Athlon II X4 645 is scheduled for mid-third quarter. Moreover, the latest CPU, obviously, would be the quickest solution in the line of AMD Propus, scheduled for release in 2010.
