Apple offers 3.33GHz Mac Pro, Xserve with 48GB RAM

Apple has quietly updated its line of powerful Mac Pro computers and servers, Xserve, supplemented by several new solutions. For example, single-processor model Mac Pro has the option in the form of 4-core Intel Xeon processors with a clock speed of 3.33 GHz. Thus, the Mac Pro now has a CPU with higher clock frequency than the variant with eight processor cores, where the frequency of both chips is limited to 2.93 GHz.

As for the server Xserve, it now can be equipped with modules of RAM to 4 GB total RAM and 24 GB in a single-processor version and up to 48 GB - a two-chip version. In addition, Mac Pro and Xserve can now be equipped with a capacity of 2 terabytes of hard drives. The maximum total amount of disk space on a server with three landing sites is 6 TB, and the Mac Pro a similar rate up to 8 terabytes.

As for the price issue, the choice of Intel Xeon processor with a clock speed of 3.33 GHz, add $ 1,200 to the cost of Mac Pro. At the same time, additional RAM in the Xserve will cost $ 2850 and $ 5850 for the version with 24 GB and 48 GB respectively. Furthermore, the addition of each hard drive capacity of 2 TB of cost to the customer at $ 550. It remains to add that all these options are already available for order at Apple Store.

YouTube testing 'light' version for quicker loading

YouTube, as is known, has a fairly simple interface, which should not cause difficulties for users. However, this is not about computers, many of which still have relatively weak hardware stuffing and connected to the slow Internet channels. As a result, have to wait long, when he booted a video to watch it later.

To solve this problem by YouTube staff decided to develop a lightweight version of its service, which should load faster and reduce the load on Internet channels. This project was named Feather and is available in beta testing through TestTube. Among its key features, we note the presence of standard quality player, who, however, will not support HD mode, as well as a smaller number of displayed comments and links to similar videos.

PowerColor announces a "green" version of the Radeon HD 5750

Company TUL Corporation, which owns the PowerColor brand has expanded its energy-efficient series Go! Green first decision technology to support DirectX 11. The new card is based on the Radeon HD 5750 and, as stated, has maintained the level of performance reference model. However, this adapter requires no additional power supply, which probably means the absence of 6-pin power connector PCIe, available on standard versions of the Radeon HD 5750.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not published a picture and specifications of its new development. One can only assume that the graphics card PowerColor HD 5750 Go! Green received a 40 nm chip, 1 GB of GDDR5 memory and 720 stream processors, and its clock speeds are at the level of stock - 700 and 4600 MHz for the GPU and memory respectively. Also assumed that the accelerator has a passive cooling system.

Samsung prepares XDR DRAM memory with a density of 1 Gbit

Following the Japanese company Elpida, from last spring is releasing XDR DRAM memory with a density of 1 Gbps, the prospects for this type of memory assessed and Samsung. Firm Rambus, is the creator of the standard memory XDR, announced that the South Korean electronics giant in the near future to provide their own XDR DRAM memory chips with a density of 1 Gbit.

Due to its high performance and energy efficiency of new XDR DRAM memory with a density of 1 Gbps can be used in game consoles and high-end computers, as well as in consumer electronics, for example, a Full HD TVs and Blu-ray players.

In addition, the emergence of XDR DRAM market as a serious player, like Samsung, will ensure sufficient supplies of this type of memory. This is particularly important following the collapse earlier this year the company Qimonda, which was the largest producer of memory XDR.

New VGA cooler Spitfire from Thermalright - Still Going Strong

The company has developed a new high-quality Thermalright VGA cooler Spitfire. If we consider that the name for a cooler, probably not chosen by chance ( "Spitfire" - a famous fighter of World War II, participated in the Battle of Britain), it becomes clear that users should expect from this device something special.

Indeed, the very unusual appearance of the cooling system design reminiscent of some modern CPU coolers. Thermalright Spitfire has a two-sided copper base with nickel-plated and components from a variety of aluminum radiator fins, which are thoroughly penetrated by six teplootvodnymi 6 mm tubes. In addition, it is possible to install one 120 mm fan.

Spitfire VGA cooler dimensions are 147 x 123 x 154 mm, weight 550 grams. The cooler comes with thermal paste Chill Factor, and is compatible with video cards AMD Radeon HD 5800 series and Radeon HD 4800 (single-chip models), HD 3800, X1900, X1800, X1650, X850 and X800. In addition, adapters are supported by a series NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 and GeForce GTS 250, 9800 GTX / GT, 9600, 9500 GT, 9400 GT, 8800 GTS (chip G92), 8800 GT, 8600 GTS, 7950 GT, 7900, 7800 and 6800.
