Ballmer: Windows 7 hits sales record

Friday, November 6, 2009

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer (Steve Ballmer) said at a press conference in Japan that the new operating system Windows 7 broke the records of previous versions of sales at the initial stage. According to Ballmer, income from sales of Windows 7 during the first 10 days after the release exceeded the income derived from any other version of Windows for the same period of time. However, Ballmer declined to name the exact number of copies sold and the amount of proceeds received. He only called the figures "fantastic".

More accurate statistics provided the company NPD Group. In her data, in the first few days after the release of Windows 7 was sold three times as many copies of the operating system than Windows Vista, when she only entered the market. And proceeds from sales was 82% higher, says NPD Group. It is worth mentioning that in recent years is also quite high demand for Windows XP, which has traditionally placed on netbooks. Regarding Windows Vista, then, despite the rather large number of copies sold in the first few days, then sell the OS began to fall, to the same Windows Vista has earned a bad reputation and negative feedback of many users.
